Step 1: Your first job would be picking the right carpet. Visit a reputable hardware or carpet store to pick the carpet. You will come across a number of color and design option and thus, must be extremely careful when making your choice. Pick something that matches the décor of your house aptly.

Before placing the final order, don’t forget to measure the wooden deck you are looking to cover. To find the square footage of the deck, you will need to multiple its width by its length. We would advise you to purchase slightly more outdoor carpet that what you would need to cover the area. This will ensure that you don’t need to place another order if you commit any mistake in calculating or if there’s any wastage when cutting.

Step 2: Next, you will have to get the deck ready for the installation. For that, you will need to sweep the area and remove all the grease and dirt from it by applying a high quality cleaner. Allow the deck enough time to dry. Once the wood is completely dry, apply a single coat of sealant on it. This step is essential for keeping the wood protected. Move to the next step only after the sealant dries up completely.

Step 3: In this step, you will have to cut the carpet. Lay the entire carpet on the wooden deck and line it up as accurately as possible. When you finish lining one side, place heavy items like rocks and stools on so that the part already laid out stays in place. Then, roll out the carpet further to reach the opposite end of the wooden deck. Once you are satisfied with the result, start cutting.

Step 4: Now, you will have to glue the carpet. Pull half of the carpet back and apply a layer of glue on the deck. Roll back the carpet and press well. After pasting one half, repeat the same steps for the other half. The carpet is now perfectly installed.
